Typically, I attend the “Big” International Motorcycle Show series that feature all the major manufactures which, normally, occurs in winter in my region of the world.  This year I will attend not only that show, but also the IMS Outdoor event as well. One reason is how starved I am for in person motorcycle events but also because a friend of this blog is going to be a presenter.

Progressive IMS Outdoors motorcycle shows are offering presentations on “RVing with motorcycles, sidecars, and trikes”.  Lucinda Belden is the new presenter, and her sidecar will be on center stage for a half hour show two times per day at each event.  From August – October she will be covering six event locations nationally talking about how RV and motorcycles work together.

Lucinda is the proprietor of “Direction Wide Open” or DWO. DWO is Lucinda’s, and her husband Will, place to share their RV and Motorcycle adventures with family, friends, and future friends.  They are two full-time RVers and avid motorcyclists, sidecarists (is that really a word?).

I can’t congratulate Lucinda enough; it is always tough to get a break into any industry but through her and Will’s hard work she is going to be telling a story many of us will want to hear.

Please go to the International Motorcycle Show Outdoors website and if an event is near you check it out.

By now most, if not all, motorcycle enthusiasts know about the new Harley Davidson Pan American adventure bike.  I am not going to go over specs or stuff like that.

Most of the “big time” motorcycle sites have stated that this Harley is going to give the BMW GS a run for the money.  That maybe true as on paper it seems the Pan American has a slight edge, according to those “big time” sites.

If you want to see for yourself then now is the time.  Harley is taking the Pan American for an on/off road demo tour across the United States. Here is the link for you to SIGN UP for the demo if you interested.

Here are all the sites that the demo tour will stop.

In 2019 there were just not a lot of good motorcycle memes. I had a total of 20 in my memes folder to chose from. Last year there were nearly double that to choose from and the selection of the final 9 memes for last year was difficult

This year the down selects went quick it took less than 5 minutes to pick the 9 best motorcycle memes from 2019. So, enjoy!

Which one is your FAVORITE?  Let me know in the comments below.  I like the dinosaur one the best!

Why the 9 Best Motorcycle Memes? Because everyone does 10 and 11 is to much work.

Currently on Amazon Prime, we get to follow Guinness Motorcycle Endurance World Record hold Kevin Sanders lead a group of ordinary riders on a 21,000 Kilometer (13,000 miles) trip from London to Beijing.

Divided into six thirty minute “shows” we follow this group from their initial meet and skills evaluation all the way to Beijing.  Yes, this is reality TV but it is a real group of riders from the UK, US and Poland with a broad range of adventure motorcycle skills.

Generally following the Silk Road, they are impacted by snow, ice, altitude sickness and political upheaval during there run though 20+ countries. The cinemaphotography is spectacular through out and more so as they pass though the Mount Everest Base Camp.

Once on the road, nothing seemed contrived as you would expect of many reality TV shows. While the show focused on those riders with large personalities it is not unexpected, you could tell that these were real people, including the one motorcycle abusing twit that broke his bike.

I give this motorcycle TV show a 5 out of 5 because it isenjoyable, I binge watched the whole thing. Also, it is quite likely that this will be on my top shows to watch thiswinter.  Oh, it was producedby Cambridge Filmworks.

This is NOT one of those typical helmet cam “adventure” video’s.  These guys had an actual camera man as part of the team.  Due to this fact the Globeriders Iceland Adventure a Motorcycle Tour of Iceland video is a lot better than most.

I enjoyed the show.  It was quite well constructed and organized.  The editing and sound was good.  The star of the show were not the riders or the bikes it was Iceland itself. It was a lot of fun to watch them interact with the terrain and some of the Icelandic population.

While I am not fully invested into doing the adventure biking “thing”, I prefer paved road trips, I am quite enamored with the concept.  The thought of getting a bike of this style and heading out to the off roads is quite appealing.

But for now, I have added Iceland’s Ring Road to my bucket list of rides.

The Globeriders have documented many other exotic rides beyond the Iceland adventure.  They also host tours to these interesting locals. Check out their website here if so inclined.

I watched this show via Amazon Prime and give it 4 Stars.

If you have a 2013 C600 Sport, C650GT, F700GS, F800GS, F800GS Adventure, F800GT, R1200R and R1200GS you are recalled because BMW said that 100% of the bikes are affected.  Affected by what, a faulty side stand switch.

The recall states “water may enter the side-stand switch preventing the motorcycle from starting or potentially shutting off the motorcycle while it is being ridden.” This may not be a good thing if your scooter shuts down right in front of a big truck!

BMW became aware of the defect in mid-2013 and report that they are unaware of any accidents or deaths due to the faulty switch.  Well at least not until the law firm of “Dewy, Cheatum and How” gets wind of this! Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117.

UPDATE: As pointed out by others… I forgot to post some information. The recall  is NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V065000.   This LINK should take you to the NHTSA site for the recall if not just use the number for the search.   Sorry for leaving that out

I am sure the switch is here somewhere!
