The DawgHouse Motorcycle Radio…The #1 Motorcycle Show in the US

On this broadcast we had sooo much motorcycle racing news to cover we actually go long by 15 minutes, bonus time for you LOL!

The only motorcycle news item we cover, in a very quick manner, was that dipwad (not going not say his name) who swerved into a passing motorcycle.  Well this 69 year old asshat got 15 years in prison for his actions….with the way our system works he will be out in less than 7.

Motorcycle Racing: SUPERCROSS

As we missed a week due to illness we coved both Detroit and St. Louis.  The majority of the conversation was about how Chad Reed became a really stuck it to Ryan Dungy over some innocuous comments.  The DawgHouse consciences is that Reed needs a bigger penalty then he received.

Motorcycle Racing: Flat Track

Again covering two weeks of racing.  But we also delve into the audience numbers, Indian motorcycles domination and how that might just hurt the future of AMA Flat Track.

Motorcycle Racing: World Superbike

Rea, Sykes, Davies or just Rea…. Well until someone can consistently beat Rea this is the Jonathan Rea WBSK series.

Motorcycle Racing: MotoGP

Holy ZARCO!  WOW we discuss just what his statement was in his first MotoGP race. And,

not to be overlooked, how tires played a huge role on the Qatar track.

This week on the DawgHouse Motorcycle News, Rants & Racing show #382

Phil has a minor rant about … Ghost Rider?!/!?!  Yes he does, Marvel Agents of SHEILD has twisted is nipple becasuse  it is GHOST RIDER not Ghost Driver!  IMHO they hired an actor and then found out he could not ride a motorcycle! It might not be real motorcycle news but it is fun.

Mondial Motorcycles makes a comeback with a scrambler! Ken’s motorcycle news story is about Mondial Motorcycles coming back from the grave.  Neither Phil or I recall ever really hearing about Mondial.  Of course when Ken was riding wheels were still made of stone.

Riding the Isle of Mann TT Course on one wheel. 37 miles on one wheel, gusts up to 40 miles an hour and the course was not closed for the stunt.  This is what Dougie Lampkin had to overcome to do something no one had done before.

AMA Pro Flat Track makes some big changes. Starting with re-branding as American Flat Track.

Ken once again rails against bikers disrupting traffic. This time motorcycles slow traffic and harass a cop on the Washington DC beltway.

Have a few $100K laying around? Might want to buy 1 of these motorcycles, but I would not recommend it myself!

Pro Flat Track motorcycle racing…tragedies in Santa Rosa. Grand National Championship 2 rider Charlotte Kainz and Kyle McGrane.  From the Pro Flat Track management “Kainz and McGrane were involved in separate racing incidents during last weekend’s AMA Pro Flat Track race in Santa Rosa, Calif. Emergency responders were on the scene within seconds of each incident and the riders were transported to Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa where they succumbed to their injuries.”

JD Beach reacts to the flat track deaths with a scathing FaceBook post about track conditions around the motorcycle racing circuit this year.  Check out his remarks about the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship here.

Huge news in the Motocross and Supercross racing world. Ken Roczen is now riding Big Red!  That is right Ken and Cole Sealy are now teammates at HRC Honda.  With the first Supercross race towards the end of October this could be a very interesting season!  I bet Fox Sports is looking forward to the new Supercross season!

We also discuss the results from MOTOGP, MOTO2 and MOTO3 crowns a champion.  Moto2 leaders are separated by the thinnest of margins and Marquez continues to roll in a season marked with parity.

This week show was a bit out of the normal.

Phil is still out (supporting his mom and dad) for a couple more weeks and with the bad weather here in in Northern Virginia we decided to do the show remotely. There was no live broadcast, it was about an hour long and we recorded via Skype so the quality is not as high as normal.

WP_20140712_16_45_45_ProAs mentioned in my posts regarding my early impression on our new motorcycle, the Ultra Limited, the XM Satellite radio reception was bad at best.  It was so bad that I was considering having it removed and asking for my money back (not really sure how that would have worked out).

After reading different takes about the radio on HD Forums and other sites, I decided to try it with the antenna moved out of the fairing and onto the “dash”.  In this case to the right of the Project Rushmore air vent.  The appearance of the antenna in this location is, and you can see for yourself, not bad.  When I have the vent closed the antenna even looks like it is meant to be there.

View from the front

But this was not about aesthetics or appearance it was about reception. Prior to moving the antenna I would get reception a grade of 40% out of 100.  The drops and lost reception was more than inconvenient, it was I want to return it bad.   After moving the antenna I will grade out reception as 80% out of 100.  Now the only time I lose reception is when there is a mountain or heavy foliage blocking the southern sky.

I still think Harley Davidson should install a buffer in the radio to allow for those short drops when they occur.  I don’t think a 4-10 second buffer would increase the price of the radio beyond what people are willing to pay.

If you are considering purchasing an XM radio module for your motorcycle do not waste your time and add stress levels by allowing them (or yourself) to install the antenna in the default location.  Install the antenna on the dash from the start; it will work a whole lot better and you will be happier with the reception you receive!
