75th-Sturgis-LogoThe event has come a long way since it was known as the Black Hills Classic when Clarence “Pappy” Hoel, and some friends from the Jackpine Gypsies motorcycle club, decided to hold a racing event.

It’s now known as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the 74th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is in the books.  

Below are the law enforcement statistics as of 6:00 a.m. Sunday August 10, 2014

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the worlds largest and next year is the 75th Anniversary.  This will undoubtably ensure that attendance will break previous records. There is even a special 75th logo being rolled out for such a legendary event and will be emblazoned on every imaginable piece of merchandise for you to spend some cash.

Outdoor fun indoors

Whiy not…. Can you say Rally Cross?

Do any if these sound familiar?

1) Nodding at other motorcycle riders……while driving the car!

2) Spend about 10 extra minutes getting dressed, (helmet, gloves, boots, jacket, goggles, sunnies, headphones, comms system…..)

3) Search for places to eat, roads to ride where other bike riders hang out.

4) Take hundreds of photos of your bike in hundreds of locations…

5) Become obsessed with bike related tv, websites, magazines, podcasts, blogs…..

6) Find reasons to go to the garage……..just to stare at your bike!

7) Find yourself wanting to travel roads like the Trollstigen in Northern Norway

8) Being so damn proud of the fact that you ride a bike that is one of only 150 (#94) in the world that have the same paint scheme….

9) Meeting and developing friendships with amazing people from across the globe, because you share the same passion for motorcycles.

Cool….. Get your burger on guys!

weber-hdHarley-Davidson riders are a close-knit community that loves wind in the face and good food.

And the good news is Harley-Davidson’s Official Grill Partner for 2014, Weber Grills, will stage the Big Burger Battle Championship at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on August 3rd.  The Weber Mobile Grill Academy will also be on site to allow motorcyclists a first-hand look at Weber’s grills and accessories and Weber will also host three hands-on grilling classes for Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) members on August 6.

Weber’s Big Burger Battle challenge is open to anyone, age 18 or older and you can submit your recipe, along with a photo of the creation HERE beginning now through June 23.

Three finalists will be hand-picked by Jamie Purviance, author of the new Weber’s Big Book of Burgers. Purviance is a national grilling expert, a New York Times best-selling cookbook author and James Beard Award…

Was someone running the camera? Motion active panning?

A really nice commercial that shows off their York, PA factory. I have been to that factory for an open house and it was as clean then as it was in the commercial.

After thirty years the HOG has changed its logo.  They ran a poll for a few months and this was the winner.  It was, by the way, the one I voted for.

Not sure what to make of this…. Before you go off on the whole baby on a bike things, notice the details.  There appears to be some form of foot rest below the child seat that gives me the idea that this is not for children but WTF!!!!

The Discovery Channel website has a quiz for “motorcycle aficionados”.  The quiz can be found here and it is harder than you might think

I took the quiz…..I am not going to admit how poorly I did.

Our motorcycle blog had its best month ever thank to you guys!  I don’t expect it to contiune over the winter and the days we will have to ride are going to diminish. I just want to thank you for looking at what interests me and the motorcycle rides that Deb and I take.
