I Just Want 2 Ride is a motorcycle blog about touring and travel—focused on real-world rides, rally trips, route ideas, and motorcycle lifestyle stories we actually live. If you’re looking for touring inspiration, ride reports, and motorcycle stuff we like, you’re in the right place.
I started riding, according to my mom, when I was about five. Some of my best childhood memories involve two wheels. My dad was a Honda guy, and our garage always seemed to have a trail bike (including the iconic Honda Trail 90). I loved it so much that my high school class ring even had a dirt bike on it.
Like a lot of riders, I set motorcycles aside for a while to focus on family and life. In 2008, after Debbie and I “graduated” from the Army following 25 years of service, we bought ourselves a new Harley-Davidson touring motorcycle—and got back to doing what we missed. A few years later that bike had 29,000 miles on it (and we’ve added a second touring bike along the way). Debbie had no real motorcycle experience at the start; now she has her endorsement and a bike of her own.
How we ride (touring routes & travel)
We’ve ridden to rallies like Daytona, Myrtle Beach, and Mountain Fest, and we chase great roads whenever we can—Tail of the Dragon, Skyline Drive, and the Blue Ridge Parkway motorcycle touring route, to name a few. We’ve even entered a bike in a few shows and done well. Looking back, we both wished we’d gotten behind handlebars sooner.
Why this motorcycle blog exists (and who it’s for)
So why start a blog? Mostly because I like to document rides, trips, and the small details that make touring memorable. This motorcycle blog is where I keep those stories in one place—so other riders can borrow ideas, avoid mistakes, and get motivated to take the next trip. I’ve always enjoyed reading what people do (I have a BA in History), and writing felt like a natural extension of that curiosity. What began as something for family and friends has grown into thousands of views a month and even led to a hosting gig on a weekly motorcycle internet radio show (The Dawg House).

The Dawghouse started as a regular, terrestrial, radio show on one of the most popular radio stations in the Washington DC metro area, WJFK. But the radio station changed its format, motorcycle racing and culture was not part of that new formant and the Dawghouse was dropped. After that the show moved to the internet and has never looked back.
Broadcast live Tuesdays from 6-8PM (Eastern Standard Time) the show’s podcasts are downloaded from the website, iTunes and other podcast sharing sites tens of thousands times each week.
The DawgHouse covers motorcycle racing of all types: MotoGP, Super Cross, AMA Daytona Sportbike, AMA Superbike, British Sport Bike (with its own reporter), Flat Track, Motorcross . We also discuss new developments with all the major and minor manufactures as well as general motorcycle news and culture (or lack thereof on individual cases) from around the world.
One of the best descriptions of the show comes from the NTNradio.com website “A completely irreverent, totally biased, intellectually challenged and scornful study of the twisted life of the motorcycling world and those who inhabit our planet… all wrapped up in a disturbing weekly LIVE broadcast!”
RIDE SAFE GUYS!!
