ijustwant2ride.com top 200

Well I opened up the old email a few days ago and low and behold I had an email from FEEDSPOT.COM.   Turns out that IJustWant2Ride.com is #105 out of the top 200 FEEDSPOT Motorcycle Blogs!

So what is FEEDSPOT?  It is a “Modern RSS Reader. If you’re trying to keep up with news and content on multiple web sites, you’re faced with the never ending task of visiting those sites to check for new content. Feedspot allows you to put all of your reading in one location.”   In other words you can use FEEDSPOT to bring all your blog reading into a single “feed” so you don’t have to jump from site to site.

As I have said before I blog about motorcycles because I enjoy it…. but the recognition is nice!

Thanks guys for making this happen!!!

On this week’s show ……  Supercross kicked off the 2018 season with some great racing.

We open the show talking about the how we like the new format of the race night, and we talk about the new metal girds at the starting line.  Looks like Supercross might be on to something good here!

Moving on to the 250s we talk about the heat races and the final.  The winner, Shane McElrath, look strong all evening and is going to be in the running all season.  Cianciarulo and Plessinger completed the podium.  Phil made an augment that Cianciaurlo is in the west to prepare him to move up to the 450s next season.

The Supercross 450s saw a lot of action with one of the big names, Eli Tomac, not finishing the night due to a crash and saggy pants.  Ken Roczen started is comeback season in decent fashion and Justin Barcia becomes the happiest man in Supercross.

The DawgHouse Motorcycle Radio…The #1 Motorcycle Show in the US

poster 800 xCutting down the field from 33 to the 9 best motorcycle posters was harder this year than last.  I was able to get to the final 17 pretty easy but getting to 9 was anything but easy.

So how do I get to the best 9 posters?  It is all subjective.  Do I like this one or that one more?  Do I like the use of color better?  “How does it make me feel?”  LOL…not the last one for sure.

In the end the 9 best motorcycle posters came down to the ones I just like the best.  Nothing more complicated then that, but that did not make it any easier.

If you are interested you can click here to look at the 2015 Best Motorcycle Posters and here for the 2016 Best Motorcycle Posters.  If you want to see a few of runners up for 2017 check this post.

The DawgHouse Motorcycle Radio…The #1 Motorcycle Show in the US

On this week’s show…

Ken is here for today only!

Phil wants to you to know about new Department of Transportation rules regarding towing trailers.  If you pull a motorcycle or car to the racetrack you might be subject to the new rules.  If you have sponsor stickers on your race bike and your trailer is 10,000 pounds you are a commercial tow and subject to the same rules as commercial haulers. If you get pulled over you might be stuck on the side of the rode until you can hire a commercial driver.

Ken is gloating about how right he was on the return of Ken Roczen to Supercross.  Phil and Warren are still not sure he will make it to race day.

Royal Enfield has 2 new Motorcycles

Royal Enfield launches two new 650cc motorcycles, the upgraded Continental GT 650 and the Inceptor 650.  Both are using the new Royal Enfield parallel twin power plant producing 47HP.  The Continental GT continues the café racer look while the Interceptor looks more like a normal cruiser.  To me the Interceptor looks a lot like an older Honda CB.   Watch a video on the launch at EICMA, Milan.   OH, why has the Royal Enfield Himalayan not yet been released into the US?

A Star Wars Land Speeder Cruises Manhattanz1

A ran across a cool video of a couple riding a land speeder in downtown Manhattan.  Using some well-placed mirrors they really, kinda, pull off the effect.  There is a second video that discusses how they pulled off the land speeder/motorcycle.

10 Best Harley Davidson Motorcycles of All Time

While I don’t agree with all the Harley Davidson motorcycles on this list, it is a good effort.  The site is a bit “click-baity” but that seems to be the norm with a lot of sites anymore.

Yamaha motorcycles R&D has been working overtime by the looks of what they have been showing off lately.  I have been pretty impressed and though I would share their efforts.

First up is the NIKEN (which is “2 Swords” in Japanese) a three wheel leaning motorcycle/trike/sport bike/something or another. It is defiantly not a scooter with a large 874cc three cylinder engine.  Watch the video and you will see that it is a very interesting motorcycle/trike/sport bike/thing. OH, and it comes out in the USA next year.

Next is pickup truck where a passenger gets to ride behind the driver, like you are riding ay hub motorcycle. Seating four the other two passengers ride to the right and left of the driver who sets along the centerline of the truck.

Called the “Cross Hub” this small pickup is a concept vehicle that they showed off at the Tokyo Motor Show.  There are a lot of interesting features including “suicide doors” and the ability to fit a motorcycle, diagonally, in the bed of the truck. Read more about the Cross Hub here.

Also appearing at the Tokyo Motor Show was the Yamaha MOTOROiD, their concept of the y droidSport Bike of the future.  With on-board AI Yamaha states that the MOTOROiD will be “capable of recognizing and interacting with its owner”.  Or, in this case who owns who?  The MOTOROiD is an electric motorcycle with some form of rear hub engine and a large battery bank where the motor would normally set.   Oh and do not confuse the MOTOROiD with the MOTOBOT which is Yamaha’s attempt to replace Valentino Rossi.

Now on a more conventional path, do you like 3D jigsaw puzzles? Well Yamaha will let you, for free, download a paper craft version of many of its motorcycles.  But to me this looks EXTREMLY complicated and tedious.  I am not into jigsaw puzzles but if you are this might be up your ally.  The site is in Japanese so you may need to run it through a translator.  Check out this completed MT-10.

Well at least according to the folks over at Test Facts IJustWant2Ride is a motorcycle blog that you should be following, but if you are reading this you already know that!  LOL      It is always nice to get some recognition for the things that we do and this is no different.  Thanks team Test Facts for making my motorcycle blogging day!!

Test Facts is a web site that “independently review and analyze products to find the best in each category”.  A few of the motorcycle related items that they have reviewed are the best modular motorcycle helmets and best motorcycle rain suits.

After looking at their site I have added them to my favorites.  I added them not because they included me on their list of best motorcycle blogs but because, as I look through their motorcycle offerings, I was impressed enough that I will to back.

Can you spot the rear shock adjuster?

Harley Davidson is not holding back or onto tradition by the looks of it. The release of the 2018 Models show that they are serious about making changes.

Gone is the Dyna line of motorcycle.  Three “nameplates” of the old Dyna line have been retained but they are now part of the “new” softail family.  The Wide Glide and Low Rider S are gone completely along with the exposed twin rear shock Dyna frame.

The V-Rod and its 125HP right out of the box engine is gone too! No more V-Rod Muscle or Night Rod.  Those bikes have been around for more than a decade but have been rolled out of the lineup for whatever the future is bringing.

The softail line has been totally changed!  New engines (the Milwaukie 8), new frame and a new rear shock.  Gone is the under frame, dual shock configuration, replaced with a mono-shock that is hand adjustable from the outside of the motorcycle!

As noted above, some of the old Dyna names moved over to the softail world.  The Street Bob, Low Rider and Fat Bob models are additions to the softail lineup while the Softail Slim S and Fat Boy S have been dropped.  Speaking of the Fat Bob… wow they really hit the styling cues out of the park, well at least for me!

Everything said and done, excluding the Sportsters, all the motorcycle in the Harley Davidson stable are now water cooled… or twin cooled to use their terminology.  Harley Davidson is making waves with all the changes.  Their promise of 50 new models in 5 years and 100 in 10 is well underway.

So what is my take?  I like it!!  Harley Davidson took a big step on technology with the Softail family.  While the bikes might look the same, it is only sheet metal.  Folks that have been complaining about how Harley does not embrace new(ish) technology cannot say that now.   Between the new engine, water cooling, monoshocks, this is not your Dads’s softail or maybe not even your brother’s or sister’s softail.

P.S.  Mr. Davidson also stated that their electric bike will be out within the next two years, how is that for embracing new technology.

I found this, new to me, motorcycle TV show on NetFlix.  It is a British TV show staring Henry Cole on their ITV network. Apparently there are at least 6 seasons of “The Motorbike Show” available but NetFlix only has one.

This is my first exposure to the start of the show Henry Cole but, he has quite the motorcycle TV resume.  With multiple TV shows and DVDs on riding from around the world he has been quite busy in the creation of motorcycle entertainment.  With his history of work I am surprised I have not seen his shows before now.  By the way, he is also a motorcycle land speed record holder.

All in all I have enjoyed all the episodes of “The Motorbike Show” currently available on Netflix.  Mr. Cole’s mannerisms, while very British, come across quite well to an American.

The shows themselves are quite varied. From restoring classic motorcycles, Isle of Mann TT, wives of British Superbike racers, to building custom bikes this motorcycle TV show gives you an insight to the British biking world you will not get anywhere else.

I am giving the motorcycle TV show “The Motorbike Show” 4 out of 5 stars.
