During 2018 I collected 18 motorcycle memes that I though were funny, good or made a point. Most memes are quite sad, these on the other hand worked for me.
Why the 9 Best Motorcycle Memes? Because everyone does 10 and 11 is to much work. Hope you enjoy them too.
This year’s list of the best motorcycle movies to watch during the winter season has a few films I recommend last year (always ready for a good visit) and some new ones.
While they will not replace the wind in your face, they might help take the edge off.
Many of these films/shows are available on streaming services like NetFlix, Amazon Prime. Just do a search to find out if you have access. The title is linked to their IMDB page.
SIT STAY RIDE – The Story of America’s Sidecar Dogs is a delightful and inspiring documentary film about motorcyclists and their beloved canine co-pilots.” My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised with Sit Stay Ride. Not only was it well shot it was well told story. It was also quite inspiring, to the point that Debbie stated, “almost makes me want to go buy a sidecar”. You can read my review of the film here.
Best Bar In America – In this film the motorcycle should have gotten a best supporting actor award. The film uses a vintage BMW sidecar motorcycle throughout the show as a character playing a role. The basic plot of this motorcycle movie is that the owner is riding his motorcycle to every bar in the western United States in order to write a book about the best bar in America. The Ride: London to Beijing – Following Guinness Motorcycle Endurance World Record hold Kevin Sanders as he leads a group of ordinary riders on a (13,000 miles) trip from London to Beijing. Generally following the Silk Road, they are impacted by snow, ice, altitude sickness and political upheaval during their run through 20+ countries. Yes, this is reality TV but it is a real group of riders from the UK, US and Poland with a broad range of adventure motorcycle skills. You can read my full review of the film here.
Globeriders Iceland Adventure a Motorcycle Tour of Iceland – (No IMDB entry) This is NOT one of those typical helmet cam “adventure” video’s. These guys had an actual camera man as part of the team. The star of the show were not the riders or the bikes it was Iceland itself. You can read my full review here.
21 Days Under the Sky – Four friends riding old school Harley Davidson choppers across America and the fun, trouble and adventure they find. By old school I mean vintage Sportsters, Shovel and Knucklehead motorcycles. Their bikes have small tanks and more than a few break downs during their cross-country trip. Wild Hogs – John Travolta, Tim Allen, William Macey and Martin Lawrence… do I need to say more. Campy fun about friends riding cross country!
Long Way Round – This is a 7 show TV mini-series so either spread it out over multiple days or binge it all at one time. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s around the world adventure trek.
Long Way Down – Again McGegor and Borman but this time they travel from the North of Scotland, down through Europe, into Africa, finally winding up in Cape Town, South Africa. Not as good as Long Way Round in IMHO but worth a watch on a snowy day.
Being Evel – “A generation of Americans grew up worshipping self-styled hero Evel Knievel–watching him every Saturday on Wide World of Sports and buying his Ideal toys. But few knew the incredible and often complex aspects of his epic life, which, like his jumps, was sometimes glorious and sometimes disastrous.” You can read my review of the film here.

The tank is the center of attention for almost all motorcycles. Some folks can get really creative on what they paint or construct for their motorcycles.
This year I started with 16 candidates for the top 9. Now I am sure that some of these may have been around for a while but 2018 was the first that I saw these particular motorcycle tanks.
I am always impressed with the talent in the motorcycle world. Whether it is paint or sheet metal crazy thinking and accomplishment are always appreciated.

For the last few years I have posted my 9 Weird Motorcycles list. The motorcycles of 2018 have not disappointed.
These are motorcycles I stumble upon these as I bounce around on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc.. This year I started with 27 bikes but it was not to hard to get them down to nine.
Why 9? Because everyone does 10 and 11 is to much work!
It is likely that those weird motorcycles that did not make the list will be sprinkled around the IJUSTWANT2RIDE Facebook page.

According to Feedspot.com, of the more popular RSS content readers, IJustWant2Ride is #91 onthe “Top 100 Motorcycle Blogs and Websites to Follow in 2019”. That works for me!
A few of the blogs that I follow are also on the list.
So at # 91 we have a lot of room to move up. But the problem is that I don’t have a lot of time to invest in all those SEO and back link things to get more search engine connections.
Oh well, I do this more because I enjoy motorcycles then any other reason. But thanks FeedSpot.com for the recognition!
Turns out that for $38 (US) you can get a behind the curtain tour of the Harley Davidson factory in York, PA. Called the “Steel Toe” tour, you get a guided excursion to places in the plant (like paint and polish) that the free version does not.
I purchased the tickets online Thursday for a Friday tour (click here for the Harley Steel Toe Tour website). We showed up a bit early for the 9:30 AM tour and, it turns out, there were only three of us for the tour; Debbie, me and a guy from New Jersey.
I wish I could say that we rode the motorcycle to the tour, but it was 25 degrees when we left the house for a 2+ hour trip to the plant. Yes, call me a wimp! (I am adding heated gear to my wish list).
Once we got to the “ Tour Center of the Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations” and checked in we were issued 2 commemorative pins, safety vest (which we got to keep (value $10? at WalMart), safety glasses and steel toe safety “booties” which we did not get to keep. Additionally, our receipts for the tour acted as a $5 off coupon for the gift shop. So, with all said and done, I think we got the tour for about $20.
Our tour guide, JoAnn, started the tour with a short 10-minute video overview of Harley Davidson. After the video and putting on our radio headsets (the plant is very noisy) we started the tour with the stamping of tanks and fenders.
Just a short note about JoAnn. She has been giving the tours at the plant for 17 years. It was obvious she knows her way around the facility and the details of how the bikes are assembled. IMHO she is an asset to the factory.
Though out the tour it was as if we were watching “Dancing with the Stars” industrial
factory edition. Between the robot machines and the human workers there was an intricate play of just in time parts and assembly. We saw motorcycles being created for not only the US but Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada and other places around the globe.
After an hour and half tour, I have to say I was most impressed with the how the paint is applied in a two-day process. I understand why Harley motorcycle paint jobs look so much better than most other motorcycles. Every painted part is hand inspected for flaws by a team of auditors. If they can fix it there it, they do, otherwise it is sent back for a redo.
Some of the other items we learned during the tour is that the plant is expanding to include the Sportster and Street lines and maybe the Live wire as well. This is mainly because they are closing the Kanas City factory. The expansion is expected to be completed during 2019.
The one thing I did not like was the fact that we could not take photos during the tour. Really, like Indian and others could not buy a ticket, LOL.
We really enjoyed taking this tour. It is so much more interesting then the self-guided walk though of the annual York Open House. I highly recommend this tour, even if you don’t own a Harley Davidson.
