Be aware that this motorcycle recall list is for the United States for the last 30 days, there is no way I could cover the entire world. But in the world of global manufacturing, if a motorcycle is being recalled in one country there is a good chance it is under recall in others. So, safety first.
Also, (DISCLAIMER) this should not be considered a definitive list, check for yourself if you have any questions.
If you are US based, use the NHTSA website http://www.safercar.gov. Enter your VIN number to see if your motorcycle is affected by the recall.
If you are based outside the USA, use the appropriate website to locate recalls that may impact you.
LASTLY – you need to make sure you get recalls on your motorcycles resolved. It is your butt on the line!
Quick Answer: What Is the KTM Recall?
Short version: NHTSA campaign 26E071000 covers certain Müller Präzision accessory steering dampers, part number 16181T01E, for certain 2020–2026 KTM Super Duke R and Super Duke Evo motorcycles. Dealers will apply threadlocker and properly tighten the steering damper, free of charge. This is an accessory-part recall—not a statement that every Super Duke in those model years is affected.
Which Motorcycles and Steering Dampers Are Included?
- Motorcycles: Certain 2020–2026 KTM Super Duke R and Super Duke Evo models.
- Accessory: Müller Präzision steering damper.
- Part number: 16181T01E.
- NHTSA campaign: 26E071000.
- Manufacturer: KTM North America, Inc.
- Component: Steering.
The part number matters. If you bought your bike used or had accessories installed, ask an authorized KTM dealer to confirm whether this steering damper is fitted and covered by the recall. Do not assume the model name alone tells the whole story.
What Is the Safety Risk?
The steering damper can loosen from the mounting adapter, which can lead to a loss of steering control. That is not the kind of extra excitement any of us ordered with our motorcycle.
What Is the Free Recall Repair?
Dealers will apply thread locker to the steering damper and tighten it properly, free of charge. KTM notified dealers on October 13, 2026.
KTM customer service: 1-888-985-6090. Have your VIN, the steering damper part number, and campaign number 26E071000 handy when you call.
What KTM Owners Should Do Next
- Confirm the accessory. Ask your KTM dealer whether part number 16181T01E is installed and affected.
- Check official recall information. Use the NHTSA motorcycle and equipment recall lookup and search campaign 26E071000. Check your VIN for other open vehicle recalls, too.
- Do not rely only on a VIN result. This notice concerns an accessory part. Confirm the damper itself with KTM or your dealer, even if your VIN search shows no unrepaired vehicle recalls.
- Arrange the free dealer repair. Ask the dealer whether the motorcycle should be ridden or transported before the repair. Follow KTM’s instructions rather than treating a quick garage tightening as the recall remedy.
This post covers one U.S. accessory recall, not every motorcycle recall or every country. Riders outside the United States should check their national recall authority and local KTM dealer.
KTM Steering Damper Recall FAQ
Is every 2020–2026 KTM Super Duke recalled?
No. The notice describes certain accessory steering dampers for certain Super Duke R and Super Duke Evo motorcycles. Confirm the part number and recall coverage with KTM.
Does the recall repair cost anything?
The specified dealer remedy—applying threadlocker and properly tightening the damper—is free of charge.
Can a clear VIN check rule out this accessory recall?
Do not use a vehicle VIN result as your only check for this accessory notice. NHTSA provides equipment searches as well as vehicle searches; confirm the installed steering damper with your dealer.

Know another Super Duke rider? Send this their way. A recall notice is less exciting than a ride invitation, but it might help keep the ride invitation on the calendar.
